Lot no. 23
ITALIAN MESH CLAUDINE NECKLACE Superb, finely-worked necklace in strips of 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold of Italian origin with a beautiful structure, edged with a gold border and revealing a centre in the style of a Claudine collar decorated with small natural rubies. The outside is decorated with finely crafted engravings featuring a plant and floral motif all over the surface. The work is beautiful, precise and perfectly executed. In very good condition. Mark 177 VI. Length : 40 cm. Gross weight: 70.4 g. The province of Vicenza in Italy is one of the major centres for the production of chain art on a large scale and, above all, with impeccable mastery. These links were distributed throughout the world when, in the 1940s, just after the war, yellow gold became the fashionable metal. People moved away from platinum to wear yellow gold, often without stones. The Claudine collar makes a small exception here with its remarkable engraving work resembling fabric and its small rubies on a heart clasp. The hallmark on this jewel refers to Renato Signoretti's workshop, which was active between 1954 and 1971.
