Biography: Paolo Andrea TRISCORNIA (1757-1822) An Italian artist from a family of sculptors in Carrara, where he studied at the Academy from an early age. He received numerous commissions from Tsar Alexander I, notably for the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg. Like his contemporaries Canova and Bartolini, he benefited from the revival of Carrara quarrying under the patronage of Elisa Bonaparte, sister of the Emperor and Grand Duchess of Carrara.
