COLLECTION OF BYZANTINE ENKOLPION
Ca. AD 1000 - 1200.
A collection of three bronze enkolpion plates, including from left to right: a cross-shaped plate incised with arched and radiating motifs and a central circular medallion; a plain cross-form panel with five recessed circles arranged symmetrically along the vertical axis and arms; and a plate engraved with a frontal image of the Virgin Orans with the Child on her chest, inscribed above with the Greek word ΠΑΝΑΓΙΑ, meaning "All-Holy."
