COLLECTION OF BYZANTINE HIGH KARAT GOLD CROSS PENDANTS WITH CENTRAL CABOCHON.
Ca. AD 600 - 800 A collection of three gold pendants with central cabochons, the two to the left, each composed as a cross of eight globular elements forming the arms, with a beaded circular bezel at the junction set with a red garnet cabochon and a suspension loop above. The example to the right has tubular arms densely decorated with granulation, terminating in small bosses, with a central round bezel set with a dark blue cabochon and a soldered suspension loop above. Size: 23-25mm x 21-23mm; Weight: 7.5g. Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the German art market, Munich before 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
