COLLECTION OF DAUNIAN PAINTED JUGS WITH GEOMETRIC MOTIFS Ca. 500 - 300 BC. A collection of three terracotta jugs, the one on the left with a wide mouth, vertical strap handle and tapering base, painted in dark brown with horizontal bands, a frieze of dotted triangles, concentric circles low on the body, and geometric motifs beside the handle; the middle with a sharply everted rim and high arched handle, the pale ground painted in dark brown with bands, rectangular panels and concentric circles, and a large twin-pronged projection rising from the handle; the one on the right with a flat rim and tall strap handle flanked by a pair of circular lateral projections, the buff ground decorated in dark brown with horizontal registers of lozenges, squares, lattice and meanders, and a broad basal band intersected by alternating crosshatched lozenges and concentric motifs.
