COLLECTION OF EGYPTIAN CARNELIAN POPPY BEADS.
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC
A collection of 21 carnelian beads, each carved as a stylised poppy seed-head with a rounded capsule, narrow neck and flaring crown. The upper extension of each bead is pierced for suspension.
Size: 10-22mm x 5-10mm; Weight: 30g.
Provenance: Private London collection; previously in a South-German private collection formed on the European art market in the 1980s and 1990s.
