COLLECTION OF EGYPTIAN FAIENCE TAWERET AMULETS New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC A collection of nine faience amulets. Each amulet represents Taweret, the goddess of childbirth and fertility. She is depicted in right profile as a pregnant hippopotamus with pendulous breasts and a prominent snout. The amulets have a flat back and a suspension loop above the head. The glaze colours range from classic blue to red and black.
