COLLECTION OF GREEK BLACK GLAZED KYLIKES. Ca. 400 - 300 BC A collection of three black-glazed terracotta kylikes, including: a black-glazed terracotta kylix with a broad, shallow bowl on a short moulded foot, flanked by a pair of horizontal, outturned handles, the interior decorated in added white and ochre with a ribbon motif in the tondo, framed by scattered Y-shapes and a border of scrolling tendrils around the wall, the exterior with a continuous frieze of opposed leaves and dots, divided by a single encircling line; a black-glazed terracotta kylix with a wide, shallow bowl on a low moulded foot, set with a pair of short, horizontal handles upturned at the tips, the interior decorated at the centre with four linked palmettes; and a black-glazed terracotta kylix with a broad, shallow bowl on a low moulded foot, fitted with a pair of upturned handles. Size: 225mm x 55mm; Weight: 235g. Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; originally in the collection of S Vanhoutte, Brussels 1990’s.
