COLLECTION OF GREEK GOLD FLY PENDANTS.
Ca. 600 - 400 BC
A collection of five gold fly pendants, each formed from a thin hammered sheet with repoussé modelling of the insect: a rounded head with pellet eyes, a broad thorax flanked by outspread wings, and a tapering abdomen with longitudinal ribs. Small legs project at the sides, and a rolled suspension loop rises above the head. The reverse is plain.
Size: 25-26mm x 18-19mm; Weight: 7.6g.
Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the German art market, Munich before 2000.
