COLLECTION OF HELLENISTIC TERRACOTTA HEADS AND GNATHIAN EPICHISIS
Ca. 400 - 200 BC A collection of five objects, including, from left to right: three moulded terracotta heads, the first with a rolled coiffure; the second with an oval face and centrally parted hair falling to the sides; the third with a white slip and red-painted facial details; a miniature terracotta model of a lobed fruit with a short stalk; and an epichysis with a tall handle, an upturned spout, a domed shoulder over a short cylindrical body with a flat base, decorated in added ochre and white. Size: 55-155mm x 35-85mm; Weight: 455g. Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; originally in the collection of C Whitehead, Brussels 1990?s.
