Blue glass and gold talismanic necklace made from cobalt-blue glass beads decorated with gold calligraphy and foliage. Divided into four sections separated by cylindrical elements inscribed in Arabic, symbolising protection. Finished with a gold tassel. H. 67 cm + tassel Please note: This type of jewellery is part of the Levantine and Ottoman tradition, where the blue symbolises protection against the evil eye and the inscriptions call for divine blessing. These necklaces were as much ornaments as amulets in Lebanese homes in the early 20th century.
