[COMBLES (Louis-Antoine de). L'École du jardin potager. Paris, Boudet, Le Prieur, 1749. 2 volumes in-12, fawn calf, triple gilt fillet, ornate spine, marbled edges (period binding). First edition of this excellent market gardening manual by the author of Traité de la culture des pêchers (1745). It is attributed to Louis-Antoine de Combles (b. 1716), Seigneur de Plichancourt, former captain in the Touraine Regiment, in an autograph note left on one of the endpapers by the erudite Auvergne collector Paul Le Blanc (1828-1918). The work is decorated with an engraved frontispiece and title vignettes after Cochin. Handwritten ex-dono from the publisher Antoine Boudet. Discrete restorations to the bindings.
