Japanese lacquer chest of drawers with parts painted in the lacquer style, decorated in gold and cream on a dark brown background depicting lake scenes with characters, animated by roosters and various birds. The upper part has two hinged leaves with bronze lock plates carved with bird heads and decorated with flowers. When open, it reveals an interior of ten drawers. The lower part has five drawers in four rows, the first of which slides out. The folding front reveals a stepped interior with four drawers and a paperweight. England, 19th c.
