A mahogany and flamed mahogany veneer chest of drawers with a slight central protrusion. It opens to reveal five drawers in three rows, with no cross-piece for the lower drawers. It stands on fluted legs with bronze sabots and rings, the uprights rounded, the sides concave, widening at the back. Ornamentation in chased and gilded bronze. Grey veined white marble top. Early 19th century. Height 92.5 cm - Width : 146.5 cm - Depth : 64 cm Stamped by Jean-Henri Riesener. (small accidents, trace of an additional bronze trim removed) A chest of drawers of the same model bearing the marks of the Château de Compiègne and the Garde Meuble de Fontainebleau, appeared in the sale at the Galerie Charpentier in April 1951, lot 113. Another in 1932 in the Viel collection, lot 89.
