The combined decoration of lion's heads, Egyptian busts and claw feet, recorded from the end of the 18th century, can be found on a number of Empire period commodes, notably one supplied by the merchant Antoine-Thibaut Baudouin in 1804 for the Fontainebleau palace (J-P. Samoyault, Meubles entrés sous le Premier Empire, Fontainebleau, Paris, 2004, p. 185).
A chest of drawers with the same characteristics, attributed to Bernard Molitor by Ulrich Leben (U. Leben, Molitor, ébéniste de Louis XVI à Louis XVIII, Paris, 1992, no. 21, p. 180 and Bernard Molitor, 1755-1833, cat. exp., Luxembourg, 1995, no. 47, p. 116) is now in the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris. According to Molitor's catalogue raisonné, they can be dated to around 1800-1805.
