Commonly attributed to Pierre GOUTHIERE (1732-1813) "Puttis riding goats" or "the procession of Bacchus". A rare pair of torches in white marble, finely chased and gilded bronze and bronze with a brown patina. They stand on four bent feet supporting a wide white marble base adorned with chased and gilded bronze and topped by a double patina bronze subject topped by a torch with a twisted shaft and acanthus leaf rim. Late Louis XVI - Directoire period. Height Height: 37 cm Length: 22 cm. Width : 12 cm. Provenance: ANNE-MARIE BERGER Collection Minor accidents and missing parts. Comparative works: - A similar jardinière with ibexes by Pierre GOUTHIERE from the collections of Marie-Antoinette is kept at the MFA Boston. - A pair of three-light candelabra with bases of the same model sold at HAMPEL, Munich, during the sale of 3 December 2020, lot n°13 sold for 37.000€. - A pair of candelabras of a similar model presented at Mark ARTHUR-KOHN (lot 56 - Bristol Sale June 2015) announced at €80,000-120,000.
