Considerations on domestic animal breeds. Paris, , Revue Contemporaine,,, 1860.. In-8 (24,9 x 15,5 cm), green chagrin, double framing of gilt fillets and gilt bees at the corners, large gilt imperial arms stamped in the centre of the boards, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt fillets, gilt edges, gilt printed paper front covers and endpapers (Gruel). First separate edition. Separate edition from the issues of 15 and 31 July 1860 of the Revue Contemporaine. An interesting treatise, which cannot be read without thinking of the famous English hound Nero, the Emperor's faithful hunting dog and his son's companion. The young Louis-Napoléon and his four-legged friend would be sculpted side by side by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux five years later (a marble now in the Musée d'Orsay). A very fine copy bound in the imperial coat of arms. Corners a little depressed, some wax remains on the boards. Minimal spotting, a pale mark left by the bookmark on pp. 36 and 37.
