An interesting treatise, which cannot be read without thinking of the famous English hound Nero, the Emperor's faithful hunting dog and his son's companion. The young Louis-Napoléon and his four-legged friend would be sculpted side by side by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux five years later (a marble now in the Musée d'Orsay). A very fine copy bound in the imperial coat of arms. Corners a little depressed, some wax remains on the boards. Minimal spotting, a pale mark left by the bookmark on pp. 36 and 37.
