A richly carved and gilded wood wall bracket with a brown tortoiseshell, copper and pewter marquetry top supported by two female terms framing a numeral, the base showing a shell and a garland of flowers. Louis XIV period Height 39 cm (Accidents and restorations) This console table is reminiscent of late 17th century ornamentalists such as Oppenordt. Its architectural design and the different techniques used - carved and gilded wood, tortoiseshell and metal marquetry - are reminiscent of certain pieces attributed to Pierre Gole.
