Über Erbfolge dort nun in der dritten Generation. Vom intensiven Sonnenlicht eines Wintertages beschienen, bricht die nahezu fühlbare Wärme die Kälte des Kolorits. Man glaubt mit einem Atemzug die eisige Luft in sich aufzunehmen, um dann hoffentlich in ein paar Metern, am Ende der Allee, die Wärme des Lichts auf dem Gesicht spüren zu können. In der Mitte des Weges lässt Gorbatoff die Allee punktuell von der Sonne durchbrechen. Mit bravouröser Sicherheit und dennoch flottem Pinselstreich versetzt er sie in Licht und Schatten, in Wärme und Kälte. Mit seinem typischen feinen blauen Pinselstrich setzt er kahle, knorrige Äste an die Birken, deren stärkere Äste vom Schnee überzogen sind. „Wintertag“ ist ein häufig, über Jahrzehnte hinweg, wiederkehrendes Motiv im Oeuvre Constantin Ivanovitch Gorbatoffs, weshalb das vorliegende Werk zeitlich nicht genauer einzuordnen ist. Frau Dr. Olga Sugrobova-Roth bestätigte die Authentizität des Bildes anhand des Originals. Illuminated by the intense sunlight of a winter's day, the warmth of the light breaks with the palpable chilliness of the colour palette. For a moment one almost seems to feel the icy chill of the air entering one's lungs, and hopes in just a few meters to reach the end of the alleyway and feel the warm sunlight on one's face. Gorbatoff allows the sun to break through half-way through the alleyway. He conjours up the contrasts of light and shadow, heat and cold with skilful precision. Gorbatoff uses his typical fine blue brushstrokes to depict the knarled branches of the birch trees covered in snow. Winter scenes such as this are a motif which reoccurred frequently in his oeuvre over many years, and thus the work cannot be dated securely.
