His paintings of Italy, and Capri in particular, were widely celebrated at their exhibitions at the Galerie Jean Charpentier at 76 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore. Of his exhibitions there, George Bal wrote, "M. Westchiloff's exhibition in a room on the first floor has had a great success from the first day and one of his works has been bought by the Duchess de Vendome. Under the late Tsar, M. Westchiloff was the painter of the Russian Navy, but his country is the subject of only a small number of his works.
