Within his oeuvre, the works on paper occupy a special position; in this early work, elements can already be recognised that characterise Bisky's later work: the seemingly fragmented depiction, oscillating between figuration and abstraction, populated by athletic, youthful figures in seemingly euphoric but destabilised spaces reflect both his East German socialisation and the ambivalences of ideology, consumption and identity in the postmodern era.
