CORONELLI (Vincenzo). Description geographique et historique de la Morée reconquise par les Venitiens, du royaume de Negrepont, et d'autres lieux circonvoisins. Paris, Claude Barbin, 1686-1687. 2 volumes in one in-8, brown calf, spine ornate, spotted edges (Binding of the period). First French edition of this description of the Peloponnese (Morée) and the island of Eubée (Nègrepont).
It is illustrated with 56 plates of views and double-page maps mounted on tabs, including two large folded views of Corfu.
This work, by the Franciscan V. M. Coronelli (1650-1718), who was also a cartographer, globe-maker and official cosmographer of the Republic of Venice, was published in Italian the same year in Venice under the title Memorie istoriografiche de' regni della Morea, Negroponte e littorali fin' a Salonichi.
The copy is missing 4 plates (Stendardo prefo Jurchi dall Armi Venete anno 1685 Battaglia Sotto Coron, and three plates titled Fortezza Vecchia di Corfu).
Covers and spine missing, corners worn, some foxing, tear not missing from plate of S. Maura.
