First French edition of this description of the Peloponnese (Morée) and the island of Eubée (Nègrepont). It is illustrated with 56 plates of views and double-page maps mounted on tabs, including two large folded views of Corfu. This work, by the Franciscan V. M. Coronelli (1650-1718), who was also a cartographer, globe-maker and official cosmographer of the Republic of Venice, was published in Italian the same year in Venice under the title Memorie istoriografiche de' regni della Morea, Negroponte e littorali fin' a Salonichi. The plate Dardanelli di Lepanto (II, p. 124) comes from another edition. One cover and two corners worn.
