Rare first edition of this work on the island of Rhodes and the Aegean archipelago, written by Fr Coronelli with the assistance of Antonio Parisotti. This volume, subtitled Tomo primo dell' Arcipelago, is the only one published.
It features an engraved title and 18 plates outside the text, including 2 full-page plates bearing the arms and emblem of the Accademia degli Argonauti and Cardinal Benedetto Pamphilj, 15 fold-out maps and views of the Aegean islands and a full-page figure of the Concubina di Rodi.
A fine copy in contemporary vellum, complete with the errata and the catalogue of associated academies (Catalogo degli Associati), forming [32] pp. at the end of the volume.
