First edition, illustrated with 14 plates out of text of thermometers, barometers, hygrometers, anemometers, etc., engraved by the sisters Catherine and Élisabeth Haussard.
This work by the oratorian Louis Cotte (1740-1815) "includes an historical description of the barometer, thermometer and other meteorological instruments. Cotte believed agricultural utility to be the principal aim of meteorology, with medical application an important secondary purpose" (Honeyman, II, 769).
