Bell-shaped red-figure krater, Greece, Attica, circa 375 BC
Dionysian scene with six figures including Dionysus, in the centre holding a leafy branch, seated facing a winged deity who approaches to place a crown (effaced) on his head. A Maenad is facing the god. The scene is framed on the left and right by two satyrs. On the back, three draped figures, H 34 cm. Provenance: Sotheby's London sale, 10-11 July 1989, lot 223; Christie's sale, 16 June 2006 (Gibbs family collection, Pennsylvania) lot 126; collection in Geneva since then.
