An oak credenza or sideboard with a rich moulded and finely carved decoration of busted warriors, masks, sphinxes, turned leather, cartouches, interlacing, foliage and mythological scenes. It stands on a quadripod base decorated with arcatures and two columns adorned with swirling vine branches. It opens at the waist into a drawer with a drop handle and at the top into a hinged door with carved decoration on the table of Venus on a dolphin accompanied by two putti. It is topped by a rich pediment with a column supported by sphinxes and centred on a mythological scene. Neo-Renaissance style in the taste of the Fontainebleau school.
