The author (1475-1507) is best known for the part entitled "De Honesta Disciplina", published in 1504 and which Nostradamus is said to have taken as inspiration for certain passages in his Prophecies. Pietro Crinito studied rhetoric under Politian, of whom he was one of the most important disciples. He inherited his library and papers and was his posthumous publisher. He met Savonarola and Pico della Mirandola and was a member of the Platonic Academy.
Second collective edition published and printed by Josse Bade, with the title in red and black and the mark of Jehan Petit. Binding a little spotted else a fine copy annotated in the margins by a contemporary reader (USTC 143575, 4 copies) (Renouard, Ascensius, II, 351, n°2).
