Lot no. 17
Crivellone - Pair of Still Lifes with Game ca. 1690 - 1720 - oil on canvas 90 x 141 cm The pair of paintings depicts rich compositions of game birds, depicted in a scenographic and naturalistic manner. In one canvas, pheasants, ducks and other birds are arranged suspended and on the ground, set in a twilight landscape; in the other, the arrangement is more articulated and dynamic, with partridges, grouse, pheasants and small birds juxtaposed with vegetation and flowers. The canvases show the characteristic attention to plumage, the chromatic variety and the theatrical construction of the scenes, typical of the production of Angelo Maria Crivelli, an artist who established himself in late 17th-century Milan and in the first decades of the 18th century as one of the greatest Lombard specialists of hunting still life, often executed in pairs or cycles destined for noble and country residences. Framed.
