Panoramic view of Havana and its port, taken with a daguerreotype in 1854 for Mr Haase and engraved in etching by the German painter and engraver Édouard Willmann (1820-1877). The foreground shows hills, fields, palm trees, plantations and small houses in the quiet district of Regla, at the far end of Havana Bay. The busy port is in the centre, with boats at anchor. The city, in its lush tropical setting, lies behind the harbour, and you can make out the horse traffic.
