Leaves of paper in filled printed cover, publisher's folder and slipcase, 6 volumes, 35 x 28 cm. Edition illustrated with 100 colour plates by Salvador Dali (1904-1989). One of 3900 copies on Rives vellum pur chiffon of the main edition. Dali worked for nearly 10 years on the illustration and it took the publisher another 4 years to engrave the 3500 woodcuts capable of restoring the colours of the original illustrations. Minor tears to the slipcases, small halo at the top of the slipcase of volume II of Purgatoire, one quire slightly browned, the other defects are minor, a good copy. (Monod, 3398).
