PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN IN FRONT OF A LANDSCAPE
Canvas
Portrait of woman in a landscape, canvas
76,50 x 63 CM - 30,1 x 24,8 IN.
Daniel Gardner was trained by George Romney. He entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1770. In 1773, he joined the studio of Joshua Reynolds, where in a short space of time he developed an approach to portraiture that he would maintain throughout his career: a nervous, animated style, enriched by a mixture of oil, gouache and pastel, while retaining the oil technique for his largest formats.
