It surrounds the text of the Divine Comedy, printed in italics. The edition, very carefully produced, is illustrated with three full-page copper-engraved plates depicting hell, purgatory and paradise, a diagram in the text (p. 538) and the publisher's mark on the last leaf. Upper hinge cracked, head cap frayed, lower corners restored, brown spotting in lower corner of first and last leaves. CNCE, 1172.
