Lot no. 447
D'après Franco Albini
Center fireplace inspired by the specimen designed and made by Franco Albini for Caterina Marcenaro's apartment at Palazzo Rosso in Genoa (1954). Pavia, 1960s/1970sca. Gray stone base, bearing a circular recess to house the hearth, edged in iron and mounted on three hexagonal stone supports. Circular perforated metal foil brazier hanging from three chains. Circular welded metal hood suspended by three steel tie rods, connected to the pipeline by a truncated cone element. Hammered and welded metal outer casing.
Provenance
Private collection, Pavia
The chimney was made for the R. house in Pavia, with the documented intervention of Roberto Poggi, executor of Franco Albini's furniture. It is likely that Poggi consulted the architect for the execution of this variant of the original fireplace, which differs in the shape of the supports, the inclination of the tie rods and the height of the flue pipe
