DAUDET Alphonse (1840-1897). Les Amoureuses. Paris, Jules Tardieu, 1858; in-16, pink half calf, silk paper boards painted by the bookbinder with pink and green pastel motifs, gilt pastille showing a clasp, cover, pink folder and slipcase (H. Limousin). First edition of Alphonse Daudet's first book, which won him the favour of Empress Eugénie. He was barely eighteen at the time. It was his only foray into poetry, and from then on he preferred novels and short stories.
