DAUNIAN BICHROME KYATHOS WITH GEOMETRIC MOTIFS. Ca. 525 - 475 BC. A bichrome kyathos with a rounded body, flaring rim, and a flat base. The exterior is decorated with a bichrome design in black and red pigments on a buff surface. The decoration on the body includes horizontal bands encircling the vessel, interspersed with geometric motifs such as parallel lines, cross hatching, and stylised patterns. The interior of the bowl is adorned with a central lozenge motif filled with geometric patterns, framed by concentric bands along the rim. The handle rises vertically from the rim and is composed of two elongated, tapering elements with a rectangular base, pierced with three circular perforations. The handle is decorated with black and red painted bands and geometric motifs, including a central square pattern. The base of the kyathos is embellished with a radial design comprising alternating black and red segments with linear details extending outward from a central circular element.
