David Ryckaert d. J., 1586 Antwerpen – 1642 ebenda STILLLEBEN MIT SÜSSEM BACKWERK, KASTANIEN, WEINGLÄSERN, AUSTERN UND BRÖTCHEN Öl auf Holz. 46 x 75,3 cm. Das zwischen 1615 und 1620 entstandene Gemälde zeigt einen reich gedeckten Tisch. Auf vier Platten sind verteilt, symmetrisch angeordnet, geöffnete Austern, Zuckerwerk, Kastanien und Nüsse. Das Mauve farbene Tischtuch trägt ausserdem ein Messer mit verziertem Beingriff, ein Brötchen, eine geöffnete und eine geschlossene Orange, zwei Gläser à la facon de Venise und einen Römer. Ein ebenfalls dem Werkkomplex von Ryckaert zugeordnetes Stillleben, welches ebenfalls einen Austernteller und eine Platte mit Backwerk zeigt, befindet sich im Museum voor Schone Kunsten, in Gent (Inv. Nr. S-87) und ist entweder mit 1617 oder 1619 datiert, sodass ein solcher Zeitrahmen auch für das hier angebotene Gemälde in Anspruch genommen werden kann. In den Folgejahren werden seine Stillleben weniger streng angeordnet. Ein Beispiel, welches sich in die 1620er-Jahre datieren lässt, befindet sich im Muzeum Narodowe in Breslau (Inv. Nr. The painting was created between 1615 and 1620 and depicts a richly laid table. Another still life from Rijckaert‘s œuvre also depicting an oyster plate and a dish with pastries is held at the Museum voor Schone Kunsten, in Ghent (inv. no. S-87) and dates to a similar period as the painting on offer for sale here, either to 1617 or 1619. Over the following years he developed a less formal style of composition his still lifes. An example which is dated to the 1620s is held at the Muzeum Narodowe in Breslau (inv. no.
