DEBUSSY (Claude) and André HELLÉ. La Boîte à joujoux. Ballet for children. Paris, A. Durand & fils, 1913. In-4 oblong, bradel white half cloth, covers illustrated in colour (publisher's boards). First edition of the score by Claude Debussy and first printing of the numerous lithographed colour compositions by André Hellé. The ballet - the story of a soldier, a doll and a bunting - was composed by Debussy for his daughter Chouchou and staged at the Théâtre Lyrique after the war, in December 1919, with sets and costumes designed by Hellé. A fine copy despite a few small spots of brown spotting. From the Maurice Marvitte library, with bookplate. Attached is the loose leaf of the programme for the first performance (slight central tear).
