DECORATIVE DISC WITH CHRISTOGRAM - former Kofler-Truniger collection
Early Byzantine, probably Italy.
Electron (gold and silver alloy). Round disc with two crosses superimposed (one wavy and one straight). The edge is decorated with intertwined bands.
Ø 5.6 cm. Total weight 35.5 g.
Various breaks. Somewhat bent.
Provenance:
- Collection of Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger (1903–1990 & 1918–1999), Lucerne before 1964 (inv. no. K719E).
- Swiss private collection, Lucerne, acquired from the above in ca. 1974.
- By inheritance in the same Swiss family collection, Lucerne.
