DERRIDA (Jacques). Memoirs for Paul de Man. Paris, Galilée, 1988. In-8, paperback. First edition of this tribute and defence by Jacques Derrida of his "friend" Paul de Man. Beautiful letter from the author to the writer Maurice Nadeau. Much has been written about this work, particularly in view of Paul de Man's collaborationist past. It gave Jacques Derrida the opportunity to explore the issues of mourning and death in greater depth, and also to reformulate a definition of deconstruction that was to become a milestone.
