"This book, composed during the trial of the archbishop of Paris with the archbishop of Rouen and before the decision of the Parliament of 13 June 1693, which maintained the latter in his full jurisdiction over the town of Pontoise and the French Vexin, was favourable to the claims of the archbishop of Paris; it contains a speech by Deslyons to François Rouxel de Médavy archbishop of Rouen, delivered on 24 September 1673. This prelate had gone to Pontoise to reconcile the church of St-Maclou, which had recently been polluted (says Niceron), and M. Deslions made this speech to him to ask him to put an end to the disputes which his claims to the vicariate of Pontoise had caused. [Deslyons (Jean), priest, dean of the faculty of theology of Paris, dean of the church of Senlis, preacher to the king, etc., was born in Pontoise in 1615 and died on 26 March 1700 in Senlis, where he was buried in the cathedral. According to the chapter of Senlis itself, Deslions was one of the most remarkable men of his century, for his profound knowledge of the Holy Scriptures and the doctrine of the Fathers".
