Detlev Nitschke (born 1935 Berlin, resident in Göttingen) Boulevard Unter den Linden/corner of Friedrichstraße with a view of the Café and Hotel Bauer and Café Kranzler View from the centre of old Berlin, enlivened by many figures. Nostalgic, summery, cheerful, impressionistic motif from the Wilhelmine period around 1900-1910. After training as a lithographer (1950-1954), the artist studied at the Master School for Printing and Graphics in Berlin under Johannes Boehland and at the Berlin University of the Arts under Heinz Kraus. Nitschke favoured capturing nostalgic motifs, vedute and street scenes from European metropolises (such as Berlin, Paris and Vienna) around 1900, in which he reflected the cheerful, atmospheric mood and pulsating metropolitan life of the Belle Epoque. Oil/wood panel. Signed lower right; 31 cm x 41 cm. Frame. Oil on panel. Signed.
