German painter (active in the 18th century) The Three Graces Scantily covered by flowing silk scarves and adorned with delicate pearl and gold jewellery, Euphrosyne, Aglaia and Thalia - the three daughters of Zeus - are staged in a Renaissance interior, accompanied by a harp-playing putto who has settled down on a red velvet cushion. Graceful depictions of nudes, executed with a fine, glazed brushstroke in a delicate colouring that forms an attractive contrast to the bright colours of the mosaic floor. Tempera/ivory. 18.8 cm x 14.6 cm. Frame. Provenance: Dissolution of an important German private collection - part II. CITES certificate available. German painter active 18th century.
