Two embroidered fabric squares, Japan, circa 1920–1930, fine red crepe and carmine taffeta, both vividly embroidered in multicoloured floche silk with images of cranes in flight, butterflies, peonies and other flowers (a small hole in one, discreet mending on the other), 335 x 146 cm.
