Two "Handa" cross coins, known as the Katanga cross, LUBA, Kasai region, Democratic Republic of Congo. Katanga was a province rich in copper mining. These crosses were the main currency of Haut-Congo from the 1850s to the 1920s. They were also used in marriage settlements and as a store of material. 25x24.5 cm (larger).
