Two sections of a large embroidered banner, China, late 19th century, crimson silk satin embroidered with polychrome floche silk and gold thread in a phoenix motif alternating with sinuous peony shoots. Lined, with a substantial fringe (signs of wear on one edge), 63 x 125 cm and 63 x 216 cm.
