Lot no. 519
Dimensions:
diameter 30 cm
Marked on the reverse: 'F.lli Barbaglia - Castelli'.
Pardi's work reproduces a painting by the L'Aquila painter Teofilo Patini, depicting Saint Charles among the plague victims, kept in the Church of the Madonna dei Raccomandati in San Demetrio ne' Vestini in the province of L'Aquila.
From the studies of the ceramologist Diego Troiano, Scientific Director of the Ma.C.A. (Museo dell'Artigianato Abruzzese di Pianella), we learn news about Pietro Barbaglia, born in Invorio (NO), who was in political exile in Castelli and who became a ceramics merchant, commissioning works from the painter Gino Pardi and sending the artefacts to Arona, where his brother was in charge of sales.
