Lot no. 518
Dimensions:
diameter 33 cm
On the front it bears the inscription: 'IN THE GARDEN'.
while on the verso: 'F.lli Barbaglia - Castelli'.
A pencil drawing, preparatory to the plate in question, reproducing the work of L'Aquila painter Teofilo Patini is preserved at the Pardi family heirs.
From the studies of the ceramologist Diego Troiano, Scientific Director of the Ma.C.A. (Museo dell'Artigianato Abruzzese di Pianella), we learn news about Pietro Barbaglia, born in Invorio (NO), who was in political exile in Castelli and who became a ceramics merchant, commissioning works from the painter Gino Pardi and sending them to Arona, where his brother was in charge of sales.
