He began his formal training at the M. Gorky Teaching Institute in Omsk and later studied costume design at the Omsk Academy of Service. Shorin became active in the St. Petersburg art scene in the early 1990s, joining the “Free Culture” artists’ collective in 1993. In 1998, he became a member of the UNESCO-affiliated International Federation of Artists, marking his growing presence in the global art community. Dmitry Shorin is a prominent contemporary Russian artist known for his striking, dreamlike paintings that explore themes of flight, youth, and modern mythology. Blending elements of realism with surreal, often ethereal imagery, Shorin’s work captures the tension between progress and vulnerability in the post-Soviet world. Shorin's works have been exhibited internationally and are included in major private and public collections, making him a significant figure in contemporary Russian art.
