Princess Natalya Borisovna Dolgorukaya (born Countess Sheremeteva; after taking the veil, Sister Nektariya; 1714-1771) was a renowned 18th-century memoirist and one of Russia's first female writers. In 1767, she wrote her Zapiski for her eldest son Mikhail and his children. They were first published by her grandson I.M. Dolgoroukov in 1810 in the journal Drug yunoshestva, edited by Maksim Nevzorov, and became very popular with readers and historians for their insights into the reigns of Peter II and Anna Ioannovna. This is the first scholarly edition of these famous memoirs, published from the original manuscript in the original spelling, under the auspices of the Imperial Society of Lovers of Ancient Writing and at the expense of Count S.D. Sheremetev. As with Sheremetev's other publications, only a small number of copies were printed.
